APPROXIMATE TRAVEL PRICES in US dollars and travel directions are from the Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose....

CAR  -- Rental car prices vary...reservations can be made through the airport.  San Jose airport to Puntarenas is about a 2 hour drive.  In Puntarenas you cross the bay by the Paquera car/person ferry.  Once on the Peninsula it is about 1.5 hours to Santa Teresa (you will drive through Tambor and Cobano).You drive the Panamerican Highway #1 via Palmares, San Ramon, Esparza, towards Puntarenas.  Drive into Puntarenas until you cannot drive any further...the road curves right and will take to you the Ferry docks.

FERRY --  There are 3 ferry services that operate between Puntarenas and Paquera.  Schedules may be found in the Ferry offices and in the Nicoya Peninsula booklet.

AIR -- Transport from San Jose International on SANSA or Travelair make daily flights into and out of Tambor on the Nicoya Peninsula.  Flight time is approximately 20 minutes, drive time from Tambor Airport to Santa Teresa is about 40 minutes drive.

BUS -- From San Jose Coca-Cola downtown terminal.  6:00 AM and 3:00 PM to Santa Teresa (Casa Zen)

             From Santa Teresa 7:20 AM and 2:00 PM

 PRICES:  Local Bus from San Jose $? cheap, but not sure exact price...(these run all day at regular intervals...I'm tracking down what time the last bus leaves for the day).

Direct bus from San Jose downtown (Coca-Cola) bus terminal to Mal Pais/Santa Teresa running now.  $10

Ferry from Puntarenas to Paquera $3.00 per person.   $7.00 per car.

 Bus from Paquera to Mal Pais/Santa Teresa  $5    OR    Taxi from Paquera to Mal Pais/Santa Teresa $30 per load
